As Public’s Waistlines and use of Tech Grow, so does h2 wellness™

Company using digital engagement and Big Data in war on obesity.

LOS ANGELES, California—August 4, 2014
h2 wellness™—a behavior change and data science company providing private-label, lifestyle health management platforms—is helping people fight a weight gain epidemic by leveraging their dependency on technology. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) more than one-third of U.S. adults are obese.1 Nearly nine out of ten Americans are online and using a cell phone cites a Pew Internet Project.2

The same Pew study shows the strong link between technology and healthcare, finding:

  • 72% of Internet users say they looked online for health information within the past year (September 2012 survey).
  • 60% of U.S. adults say they track their weight, diet, or exercise routine (September 2012 survey).
  • 31% of cell phone owners, and 52% of smartphone owners, have used their phone to look up health or medical information.
  • 19% of smartphone owners have downloaded an app specifically to track or manage health.

h2 builds platforms that people access through their smartphone, tablet or computer to help record and monitor their weight loss, exercise, nutrition and/or other health goals; receive reminders, coaching and support; access a huge database of relevant health data; improve their health; and much more. These digital solutions become part of their users’ lives and wellbeing.

The CDC explains that obesity-related conditions including heart disease, stroke, type-2 diabetes and certain types of cancer are some of the leading causes of preventable death.

“We are able to battle obesity on a major scale,” stated H2 Wellness Co-Founder and President Hooman Arasteh. ”We work with our clients to change and improve thousands of people’s lives at a time. There’s a huge need for leveraging technology to assist people with helping themselves.”

h2 supports more than two million end users in 14 countries in 8 languages.

h2’s clients include health and wellness organizations and healthcare providers, who hire h2 to help them provide a unique way to better engage their customers, offer them an effective health tool with tangible value, and improve their lives.
